Employment Information System (EIS)
The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) is making changes to improve the process for collecting data about teachers, administrators, and other school personnel. Specifically, ISBE has retired the Teacher Service Record (TSR) data collection system. In its place, ISBE will launch the Employment Information System (EIS) on February 1, 2013, for district use in reporting data for teachers, administrators, and other employees.
The new EIS will allow data to be submitted via batch file, as well as entered and edited using online screens. In addition, EIS will allow data to be reported continually (no closed periods during a school year) for both certified and noncertified employees. To lessen the reporting burden on districts, EIS will incorporate the administrator and teacher salary and benefits data that school districts are required to report by October 1 each year, per Sections 10-20.47 and 34-18.38 of the School Code.
